Vaughan Carr is Adjunct Professor in the School of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales and Adjunct Professor at Monash University. He was formerly CEO and Scientific Director of the Schizophrenia Research Institute and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Newcastle (1989-2009) where he was the Founding Director of the Centre for Mental Health Studies (1999-2006) and the Centre for Brain and Mental Health Research (2006-09). He also served as Area Director of Hunter New England Mental Health Services (1997-2005). He has published in the areas of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, early psychosis, depression, post-traumatic stress, mental health care delivery in general practice, child psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, genetics, epidemiology, mental health service evaluation, alcohol and drug abuse, psychotherapy and health economics.
