Venktesh Ramnath

Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of California, San Diego

My objective is to provide best-practice medical care and visionary leadership to critical care, pulmonary, and general internal medicine, through in-person as well as health tech-based solutions such as telemedicine and interactive mHealth platforms.

There is a clear domestic U.S. need for such services, but the ultimate goal is global. Global ICU Consultants was created with a mission to further clinical, administrative, educational, and infrastructure development in the ICUs of hospitals in developing nations. Our experience to date includes India, sub-Saharan Africa, and Indonesia.

Concurrently, I feel that the responsible use of technology in medicine will continue to enhance the provision of high quality medical care at low cost. As such, I am currently developing various technology-based solutions particularly centered on improving quality, efficiency, and value in medicine. One is to provide telemedicine-based clinical care to solve rural health care gaps in both the U.S. and abroad. Another is an interactive mHealth app that allows patients and families to engage in activities and coping skills to handle the stressful emotions surrounding a hospital admission for an acute illness.
