Veronica Newhart

Ph.D. Candidate in Education, University of California, Irvine

Veronica Ahumada Newhart is a Ph.D. student in the School of Education at UC Irvine with a specialization in Language, Literacy, and Technology (LLT).

Veronica received her M.Ed. in Adult Education with an emphasis on distance/online learning from the University of Georgia and received her B.A. in English Language and Literature from Loma Linda University. As a graduate student, Veronica investigated the use of technology in distance learning, adult literacy, and English as a Second Language. She plans to focus on the use of technology in multiple areas of traditional and non-traditional educational settings and hopes to also explore the relationship between student health and academic achievement as she pursues her Ph.D. at UCI.

Her research interests include virtual inclusion, telepresence, emerging technologies to facilitate teaching and learning, online/distance learning, social context of learning, motivation, student health and academic achievement.
