Since 2011, I work as lecturer and researcher at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain). I am a bachelor in Horticulture (BSc) from University College Dublin (Ireland) and gained a PhD in Agriculture from the Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany).
Since my PhD thesis, I have been developing applied and fundamental research approaches to the absorption of water and solutes by plant organs (leaves, fruits and flowers), focussing also on the effect of nutrient deficiencies in plants, at an anatomical and functional level. My studies often involve multidisciplinary and innovative approaches for assessing the physico-chemical properties of plant surfaces and their interactions with water and foliar fertiliser formulations.
Regarding the dissemination of results and knowledge transfer, I have written more than 70 scientific and technical contributions and have given numerous seminars and invited lectures at scientific and technical conferences in several countries. On the other hand, I regularly develop research projects in collaboration with national and international agrochemical companies. I also contribute to the evaluation of research proposals of national and international organisations, revise scientific papers for journals and collaborate as associate editor in "Frontiers in Plant Science" (Plant Nutrition section).
