Dr Wayne Applebee is a senior lecturer in Indigenous Specialisation in the University of Canberra's Health Faculty. He is a Kamilaroi man that has never lived on “country”.
As part of the Aboriginal diaspora, he considers it important to educate others of their culture, a major influence in writing his thesis. In keeping with this educational mission, he is the managing director of Narragunnawali Aboriginal Corporation, formed to implement the ‘Circuit Breaker Program’ he developed to support the rehabilitation of Indigenous prisoners and divert offenders away from crime.
