Research Fellow, University of Birmingham

I have recently submitted my PhD in Applied Social Science, funded by the Transforming Sexuality and Gender Research Cluster at the University of Brighton. My research project focuses on how gay and bisexual men use digital and social media to seek help for mental health-related difficulties. Additionally, I also examined how LGBTQ mental health services use online settings to reach and engage with this particular group and others within the wider LGBTQ community.

Prior to my PhD, I completed my MA in Community Psychology (University of Brighton), MA in Psychology (University of South Africa), and my BA (Hons) in Applied Psychology (University of South Africa). My past research has focused on trans young people's experiences with online suicide and self-harm resources, as well as volunteer motivations with a Namibian LGBTQ rights-based organisation.
