Associate Professor Winston Chow researches and educates physical processes, impacts, and mitigation of urban heat islands, urban vulnerability to climate change, and sustainable urban climatology. Dr. Chow is the author of over 22 academic journal articles on heatwaves, droughts, and flashfloods; also he is a contributor in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on this subject. Dr. Chow has conducted interdisciplinary studies in urban areas in Arizona, Chicago, and Singapore. In his research he explores ways to reduce urban vulnerability to droughts, exploring water modelling, planning, policy, and the role of spatial scales in climate adaptation techniques for cities.
