Dr. Morgan is a known researcher with diverse research interests and an active member in the IEEE. His research interests cover the areas of intelligent data networks, cryptography, and intrusion detection. During the late 1990s Dr. Morgan built a system of document scanning and document security with a small enterprise called AIT. The system was adopted to protect the Canadian passport and moved to become the DeFacto standard for state travel documents. Dr. Morgan is the sole inventor of the International Patent (PCT No. EP2598913 A4). He is known for his contribution to the IEEE 802.11p standards group and the IEEE 1609.0/.1/.2/.3/.4/.5 WAVE groups as well. He has interest in secure intelligent communications. Recently, Dr. Morgan founded the BRiC Laboratories to investigate, research, and build intelligent solutions for modern public safety challenges.
