Public schools should be supported by the community, not just parents

Support of public schools should be the responsibility of an entire community, not solely those who have school-aged children, a US study has found.

According to the study’s authors, all members of a community across 26 districts in the US benefitted from their local public school, regardless of whether they had children attending it or not.

For that reason, the researchers argued, no-one should be exempt from paying school taxes.
