The scales of justice are balanced

Indigenous and non-Indigenous offenders who have committed similar crimes are like to receive the same sentences in the courts, according to a study of trials throughout Australia. Researchers at the Queensland University of Technology found that judges in South Australia were more likely to be lenient towards Indigenous offenders.
