Burrows Lecture: J.A Baker: His Life, Works and Legacy

In 1967 when Baker’s The Peregrine was published, little was known of its Essex author.

In recent years, the book has been internationally-recognised for its significance in depicting a natural world under threat from human activity. In 2013, Baker’s archives found a home at the University of Essex, enabling us to see so much more of the author and his work.

Dr James Canton from the Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies will delve into this intriguing Essex writer’s world: his life in Chelmsford and surrounding landscapes, his writing and his ever-evolving legacy.

This event is free and everyone is welcome. Please book your ticket via the Lakeside Theatre.
