TOUR THE UNIVERSITY’S METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY

We’ve been making weather observations at Reading since 1901. Today we have over 100 years of unbroken daily records including temperature and rainfall. Most of our instruments are fully automatic, and information is logged by computer every second of every day. The wide range of observatory instruments and their records provide a valuable teaching resource to the department as well as continuing our long climate record. Public tours of the Atmospheric Observatory are held every summer; booking is essential as places are limited. Early booking is advised, as these tours are popular and fill up well in advance!

Summer 2024 observatory tour dates and booking form can be found here

In the meantime, why not take a look at our book about Reading’s weather through the years – One Hundred Years of Reading Weather
