Volcano eruption was predicted

Scientists have successfully predicted the eruption of undersea volcano, Axial Seamount.

Bill Chadwick, Orgeon State University, and Scott Nooner, Columbia University, published their prediction in 2006 paper “Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research.” The volcano erupted on April 8 this year.

Evidence of the eruption was discovered on an expedition on July 28 by a remotely operated robotic vehicle (ROV).

“It is now the only volcano on the seafloor whose surface deformation has been continuously monitored throughout an entire eruption cycle,” said Nooner.
