Your avatar might be giving the wrong first impression

First impressions may have more to do with your eyebrows, eye height or bone structure than anything you do or say.

Researchers at York University have found that they can predict how people will rate different computer-generated faces for approachability, youthful-attractiveness and dominance. The study was largely focused on Caucasion features and respondents, but further research will examine different cultural groups.

As online social contact grows, more research will seek to understand the influence of images.
