Professor of Practice in Education Policy, University of Birmingham

Chris Millward is Professor of Practice in Education Policy at the University of Birmingham. Alongside his role at Birmingham, Chris is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, a Marshall Scholarships Commissioner, a member of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research in Wales and a Trustee of the Society of Research into Higher Education.

Prior to joining Birmingham in 2022, Chris served as the first Director for Fair Access and Participation on the board and executive of England’s higher education regulator. He has also served as Director of Policy at the Higher Education Funding Council for England and Head of Research Programmes at the UK Arts and Humanities Council.
