Nicola Thomas is a registered kidney nurse and also honorary nurse consultant in the renal unit at Barts Health NHS Trust, London, UK. Nicola has worked within the renal speciality for all her career and has extensive clinical, teaching and research experience. Her clinical and research work has focused on prevention and self-management of kidney disease, with a specific interest in health inequalities. She is experienced in patient and public involvement initiatives and is a founder member of the Kidney Patient Involvement Network (KPIN). She is a past Executive Board member of the Association of Nephrology Nurses UK and Editor of the Journal of Renal Care. She has led a number of research and quality improvement programmes and has published widely.
