Professor of Collective Intelligence, Cardiff University

Roger Whitaker is Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research Innovation and Enterprise at Cardiff University. Previously he has been Dean for Research and Innovation in the Physical Sciences and Engineering (2012-2021) and Head of Cardiff University’s School of Computer Science and Informatics (2009-2013). His research interests concern the intersection of human and machine intelligence, new forms of innovation and the increasing role of AI. He led and directed Supercomputing Wales, a £19M investment supported by European funding in high performance computing facilities and staff across the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea. Roger is a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales.
