Dr Aurélie Pankowiak is a postdoctoral research fellow within the Institute for Health and Sport and is a current recipient of a VicHealth Research Fellowship (May 2023 – May 2026). As part of her fellowship, Aurélie leads a program of research on the prevention and response to interpersonal violence in sport (also known as safeguarding or Safe Sport), with as a specific focus on child abuse in community sport. She is a passionate survivor-advocate of child sexual abuse in sport.
Aurélie is a co-founder of the International Network on Sport Integrity and Violence (IRNOVIS): a funded partnership that brings together leading researchers in the fields of violence against athletes and sport integrity. https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/projects/violence-and-integrity-in-sport/
Aurélie graduated from her PhD in November 2020 at Victoria University, which investigated national elite Paralympic sport development systems.
