Shandell Houlden is a postdoctoral fellow at Royal Roads University in Victoria, B.C., where she has been researching online misinformation, flexible education, and education futures. As an interdisciplinary scholar, her research interests intersect multiple areas of study including flexible online education and learning, online misinformation, online harassment, and human-animal studies. Her work has been published in Distance Education, the British Journal of Education Technology, New Media & Society and Grain Literary Magazine, among other places. Shandell holds a PhD in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University.
