Dr. Lennon Yao-Chung Chang holds the position of Associate Professor of Cyber Risk and Policy at Deakin University, where he contributes significantly to the Centre for Cyber Resilience and Trust and the School of IT. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Chang is actively engaged in various leadership capacities, serving as the President of the Australasian Taiwan Studies Association, Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific Association of Technology and Society, and Chairperson of the Doublethink Lab, a prominent civil society organization in Taiwan specialising in disinformation and information operations research.
As a passionate advocate for cyber security, he founded and directs the CyberBaykin campaign in Myanmar. Furthermore, his expertise has been recognised by the Victorian Government-funded Oceania Cyber Security Centre, appointing him as Ambassador for the Cyber Security Capacity Maturity Model for Nations in 2020.
Dr. Chang's academic journey began with a Ph.D. in Law from the Australian National University, complemented by a Master's in Criminology and Bachelor in Law degrees from National Taipei University, Taiwan. Over the years, he has received numerous accolades and awards for his contributions to academia and research, including the prestigious Endeavour Asia Award and the ANU Alumni Prize. He is recognised as 2023 Taiwan’s Ten Outstanding Overseas Young Person and received his award from Taiwan’s President.
Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he is currently investigating internet vigilantism in Asia and collaborating with governments and NGOs in ASEAN countries to develop cyber security capacity and awareness programs. His dedication to advancing cyber security research and education underscores his commitment to addressing contemporary challenges in the digital realm.
