A home of their own

Young people with disabilities live more enriched lives when provided with age-appropriate accommodation in the community, rather than being forced to live in nursing homes, a study shows.

Those living in a more home-like environment can be more independent and participate in community activities.

Governments, disability services, health and aged care services must work together to prevent admissions of young people into nursing homes.
