Bad headache? Maybe you haven’t had enough caffeine

Research shows that a caffeine tablet can be used as pain relief for patients suffering from headaches after a spinal tap.

Led by Xavier Basurto Ona, Hospital de Figueres, Spain, the research showed the caffeine tablets were more effective than a placebo.

Prescription painkiller gabapentin, the steroid hydrocortisone and the asthma drug theophylline were among the other medicines also shown to be effective in treating puncture headaches.
