Birds not able to keep up with urban noise levels

Birds with low pitched songs may be driven away from urban habitats by rising noise levels.

A recent study by Melbourne University has shown that birds are increasing the pitch of their songs. However as noise levels increase they are being driven away from their city ranges.

Researchers said this is because birds are not able to compete with urban noise levels in attracting mates and alerting other birds to danger.
