Blogging may help new mums connect

New mums who read or write blogs are more likely to feel less alone compared with mothers who do not blog.

The research found that mothers who blogged experienced several benefits including feeling more connected with their extended family and friends. It also gave them an outlet to share their hobbies and accomplishments, leading to greater feelings of support. But social networking had no impact on their wellbeing.

It is still unclear how or why blogging has such a different impact on new mums compared with social networking. However, researchers found the frequency with which new mothers blogged was linked with stronger relationships with their family and friends.
