Blood pressure key to stroke recovery

Intensive lowering of blood pressure can be an effective aid to recovery from strokes, researchers at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney have found.

The study found that such treatment was effective on patients with intracerebral haemorrhage, the most severe type of stroke.

The treatment reduced the risk of major disability and improved chances of recovery by as much as 20%.
