Calcium may lower female mortality

Women who consume 1,000 mg of calcium a day may live longer, new research suggests.

The study of 9,033 participants found the consumption of 1,000 mg of calcium a day by women, regardless of whether it was consumed in food or supplements, was associated with a lower risk of death.

Although the data showed a lower mortality risk for women, there was no statistical benefit for men.
