Cane toads cannot resist deep, throaty call

Researchers have found that playing a recording of a seductive mating call is the key to trapping cane toads.

They are working on a solar-powered trap that plays recordings of a deep, throaty toad call that both males and females find hard to resist.

Highly effective traps will help in controlling the toads, either by themselves or as part of an integrated pest-management scheme.
