Choosing sex and fertility on the farm

A new international research collaboration aims to develop biotechnologies that will influence the male to female ratio of production animals, while investigating non-surgical means of controlling fertility. Targets include finding better ways to breed female-only Atlantic salmon and developing a vaccine to sterilise male and female cattle. This would boost the productivity and profitability of cattle and aquaculture industries.
