Cohabiting same-sex couples less healthy than married couples

Same-sex couples who live together have worse health than married opposite-sex couples. Their health was comparable to unwed opposite-sex couples who live together.

Researchers were surprised by the results: cohabitating same-sex couples on average have higher household incomes and previous studies have found a positive link between socio-economic status and good health.
