Dads hardwired to look after children

New fathers have been found to experience a significant drop in testosterone levels shortly after the birth of their child.

Testosterone is a hormone produced in males to allow them to compete with other males for mates.

These lowered testosterone levels indicate that since humans need to care for their young after birth, the hormone is reduced to allow the male to focus on child-rearing, rather than finding another mate.
