Children with life-threatening cancer could benefit from a breakthrough drug that, for the first time, directly targets the structure of the cancer cell.
Researchers at the University of New South Wales have shown that the treatment is effective in melanoma, and neuroblastoma, a cancer that affects children.
The drug may be effective against all types of cancer. It could lead to a new form of chemotherapy that would have more positive outcomes for hard-to-treat cancers, and fewer negative long-term side-effects for survivors.
