Flat coral looks like home to big fish

Big fish, like coral trout, snappers and sweetlips, prefer sheltering under flat table corals rather than branching corals or massive corals.

Scientists are not sure why big reef fish prefer table coral, but believe the fish could be sheltering from the sun.

Flat table corals are highly susceptible to climate change. As they die back, fewer large fish may call the reefs home.
