Genes linked to osteoporosis

A number of genes are strongly linked to the presence of osteoporosis and bone fractures, according to a new international study.

Researchers found that variants in 56 regions of the genome had an influence on bone density, and 14 of those 56 influenced the risk of bone fracture.

The new findings will hopefully lead to a number of therapeutic treatments for bone diseases such as osteoporosis.
