GP management plans work

Some of Australia’s most vulnerable chronic disease sufferers are benefiting from the use of GP management plans, an ANU study suggests.

Instead of being managed on a one-off basis, the plans, which were initially introduced by the Federal Government in 2000, provide a framework for the management of ongoing chronic illness.

The researchers found the plans were helping those in need but too few people were using them.
