How to feed hungry children? Neighborhood answers

Childhood hunger is more likely in neighbourhoods with higher poverty rates where foreign-born populations with non-English speaking backgrounds are the majority, a recent study from Rice University has found.

While families are critical to childhood development, the study demonstrates that communities and neighborhoods are equally significant.

According to the research, policies that address childhood hunger should focus away from individuals and target neighborhoods to be effective.
