Learning braille at play

Blind children will be able to learn braille while they play, thanks to the design skills of a Monash University student. Lau Shuk Man noted the lack of toys for children with disabilities and decided to create a series of play mats which use sound and texture to engage children and encourage them to explore their physical environment. Lau hopes the award-winning design will familiarise children with internationally recognised mobility symbols and help them take the first step towards literacy.
