Logging and snow could help climate in some areas

A Dartmouth College study has found that replacing forests with snow covered fields could be more helpful for the environment in some regions.

The study has found that snow, which can reflect the sun’s energy, could have economic and environmental benefits for high latitude areas.

Previous research has recommended reforestation as a key way to counter excess carbon in the atmosphere. This study is the first to show that in some areas snow as a “natural mirror” is better for climate purposes and the economy through timber production.
