New clues to auto-immune arthritis

New information about a form of auto-immune arthritis which can damage the spine has been found by researchers from the University of Queensland and Bristol University.

The researchers found seven genes which are likely to be involved in causing ankylosing spondylitis, which can cause fusion of the spine in extreme cases.

Diagnosis of the condition could become quicker and cheaper as a result of the findings.
