New dyes shed light on medical imaging

Researchers at the University of Copenhagen have developed a new dyes which will allow for cheaper and easier medical imaging.

Imaging technologies such as MRI scans and microscopes rely on dyes or contrasting agents, which are historically expensive and difficult to work with.

The new dyes – known as aza-oxa-trangulenium – have the potential to outperform the fluorescent dyes currently being used.
