Online dating the second most-common way for couples to meet

The percentage of couples who met online has jumped from 0.06% in 1979 to 23.2% in 2009, a recent study by the Rochester University shows.

A 2010 study of a major online dating site found that women viewed a third as many profiles as men did (196,363 to 597,169). It also showed that men were 40% more likely to initiate contact with a woman after viewing her profile.
