A study published in The Lancet has shown that more people are living for longer, and functioning better in their old age.
The study used two cohorts: 2262 people born in 1905 and assessed at age 93, and 1584 people born in 1915 assessed at age 95.
Despite being 2 years older at assessment, the 1915 cohort performed significantly better than the 1905 cohort in both cognitive and physical performance tests.
