Pinterest has untapped potential for advertisers

Researchers in the US have completed the first statistical analysis of social networking site Pinterest.

They looked at gender (female users typically have more re-pins, males, more followers) and what sets it apart from other social networking platforms.

The verbs “want”, “use”, “look” and “need” were found to be prominent on Pinterest. The researchers believe this highlights the potential for advertisers and marketers.

“After conducting this research, if I had to choose where to put my money and marketing, Pinterest would probably be my first choice,” said Assistant Professor Eric Gilbert.
