Discipline Lead - Engineering, University of the Sunshine Coast

I have various skills and research interests courtesy of a diverse 20-year career across the Australian Defence Forces. My primary research pertains to the use of snow as a construction material and the in situ assessment of snow mechanical properties.

My domestic research interests focus on the interplay between science and engineering in ensuring our successful adaptation to climate change.

I have experience leading and coordinating field scientific and adventurous expeditions in remote regions of the world including Antarctica, the Arctic and the Himalaya, and I am captivated by the pursuit of science in the polar and alpine regions; ideally by light-weight and self-contained expeditions.
