Professor of Criminology, University of Leeds

I am Professor of Criminology in the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, School of Law, University of Leeds where I research and teach cybercrime, crime and technology, criminology, criminal justice, and policing. I also have research interests in the organization of crime, intellectual property crime (counterfeiting), the sociology of law and also law and popular culture. I was a Turing Fellow 2018-2021 and remain a member. I have conducted funded research into Cybercrime, Policing Cybercrime, Ransomware, Counterfeit Pharmaceuticals and Organized Crime and Terror Networks. I am currently researching Ransomware and also the use of Cybercrime in Geo-political conflict.

I rejoined Leeds University in August 2015 after spending five years in the School of Applied Social Sciences at Durham University.
