Shorter men live longer – it’s in their genes

Good news for short blokes. Researchers have found the shorter a man is, the longer he will live.

The University of Hawaii study divided participants – 8,003 American men of Japanese ancestry – into two groups: those who were 157cm or shorter and those who were 163cm or taller.

Those in the short cohort had a higher survival rate than their taller counterparts, which the researchers attributed to genes.

This is the first study to reveal a connection between the longevity gene and height, suggesting that shorter men are more likely to have lower fasting blood insulin levels and a lower risk of cancer.
