Technology causes excess work

Technological advancements and smart phones are causing New Zealand workers to feel overworked, with people reporting they are increasingly required to be available after usual working hours.

While 63% of workers felt technology meant they were working more than they use to, only 25% felt it had a detrimental effect on their lives.

Researchers from Massey University analysed data from The Great New Zealand Employment Survey 2013, finding the efficiency and flexibility offered by technology counters the negative effects of increased work.
