Tumors tracked in real time using 3D imaging

For the first time, 3D images have been used to track tumors as they spread, and the effects of particular drugs on cancer cells as they develop, in real time.

The study was trialled on pancreatic cancer tumors, which are notoriously hard to treat. The real time 3D images allow researchers to see where drugs are effective, and what areas to target to break up tissue surrounding the tumors.

The aim of the study is to find better ways to target tumors and increasing the effectiveness of drug treatments for cancer patients.
