Ultra-light insect robots take flight

Researchers at Cornell University have developed tiny flying robotic insects using a 3D printing technique. The robots’ wings weigh less than four grams and are made of a polythene film stretched over a carbon fibre frame. The research will hopefully shed light on the mechanics of insect propulsion and control.
