Your phone’s location might not be secure

Mobile phones can be tracked by third-parties without a user’s knowledge, according to new research from the University of Minnesota.

With current technology, and no help from the service provider, researchers were able to track phone users’ locations to within a ten-block area.

This technology could potentially be used by thieves to determine if a phone is away from a location, minimising risk of a physical break-in.
