A new class of antibiotics could be on its way

A potential new antibiotic has been discovered that targets a bacterial enzyme responsible for metabolic processes.

This process differs greatly from existing antibiotics, which typically target the bacterial cell membrane.

While still in early stages of development, this antibiotic could be beneficial against bacterial diseases that have built up a resistance against known classes of antibiotics.
